What is the Microschool?
Waybright Academy Microschool is a private K–12 school in North Scottsdale for students who want real-world skills in programming, gaming, engineering, robotics, and digital media. It can serve as your child’s primary school, or as a part-time / hybrid option alongside another path.
Enrollment is capped at 10 students. The school day typically runs 8:30 am–3:30 pm, with early care and after care available.
How individualized learning works
Instruction is built around each student, not a fixed class pacing chart. Curriculum is rewritten weekly based on how your child responds to lessons, what they are interested in, and how they learn best.
Students move at their own pace with individualized learning plans and assignments. The model uses mastery-based and passion-led approaches so stronger areas can accelerate while weaker areas get focused support, including for asymmetrical learning profiles.

Waybright was founded by Diane Kuhler, a mother of three twice-exceptional daughters, to give gifted and 2e students an education that celebrates intellect, creativity, and individuality. With over 15 years of experience with neurodiverse learners, the microschool is built around the learning that excites these students and the structures that help them avoid common schooling pitfalls.
Lessons are custom-written to bring each student’s passions into weaker subjects. Students progress at their own pace with experts in their fields, learn to adapt tasks to their style, and build personal management skills so they can set goals and thrive beyond specialized environments.
